Rapidus has received another ¥267.6 billion ($1.7 billion) in funding, with fresh investment coming from the government and the private sector, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry announced Friday.The chipmaker is building a foundry for next-generation semiconductors in Chitose, Hokkaido, with just under half the total investment needed to get to mass production raised already.In the recent round of funding, ¥100 billion was invested by the government through the Information-technology Promotion Agency, while ¥167.6 billion was committed by 32 companies, including Canon, Sony Group, SoftBank, Honda and Fujitsu.
