Live Blog Update| War on Iran 26 June 2026 21:08 BST Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said a deal signed with Israel on Friday was a first step towards fully restoring his country's sovereignty after Israel's latest war on Lebanon. "The framework agreement signed today is a first step" that will enable Lebanese people to return "to their fully liberated lands, and to their certainly rebuilt homes... under the sovereignty of the Lebanese state that has no partner in its sovereignty over its land and people", Aoun said, according to a statement released by his office. "We swear to continue to work until this is fully achieved. There will be no more occupation, prisoners, subordination or tutelage," he added. Live Blog Update| War on Iran 26 June 2026 20:02 BST Hezbollah lawmaker Hassan Fadlallah said Lebanese authorities would not be able to enforce a framework agreement signed with Israel in Washington on Friday unless, with US support, "they go to civil war", Al Mayadeen reported on Friday, after talks aimed at ending Israel's war on Lebanon. Fadlallah said Hezbollah would confront any measure taken by Lebanese authorities, and that the group would continue to hold onto its weapons. The group's opposition was at a "serious" level, and they would not allow authorities to implement their commitments on the ground, he added.
Israel and Lebanon signed a framework agreement in Washington on Friday following several days of talks to secure an end to Israel's war on Lebanon. Lebanese Ambassador Nada Moawad and her Israeli counterpart Yechiel Leiter signed the trilateral document with the US at the State Department in Washington. "Today we've taken the first step in what will be a difficult journey, without a doubt, but an important and an essential and a necessary one," US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said before the agreement was inked. The officials did not provide details of the framework deal and did not say how its terms would differ from those included in a 16 April ceasefire deal that preceded several rounds of US-brokered Israel-Lebanon talks. Lebanon and Israel have agreed to a deal as part of a trilateral framework with the United States in Washington on Friday, following five rounds of talks hosted by US President Donald Trump's administration. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has called it "the beginning of the beginning" in remarks to reporters moments before the signing. He later revealed in a written statement that the US would commit $100m in "humanitarian assistance in coordination with the UN" for affected communities, though he did not specify whether it was just for Lebanon or also for northern Israeli border towns. The Lebanese Armed Forces, Rubio said, would be "reimbursed" by the Trump administration to the tune of $30m. "This agreement establishes a clear and structured process to restore Lebanon's sovereignty, disarm Hezbollah and dismantle its terrorist infrastructure, and enable Israel to return to its borders once that threat to its citizens is removed," Rubio said. "For Lebanon, this Framework provides a genuine pathway out of a long crisis. For Israel, it creates a verifiable path to removing the persistent threat on its northern border." Posting on X, Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam said the framework is a step toward "restoration of the state's sovereignty", but downplayed any new obligations on his country apart from previously stipulated agreements in United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, and the 2024 ceasefire deal. "Only the legitimate forces are authorized to bear arms in Lebanon," he said. The hyper-entitled Israel-haters of America’s Ivy League are on their way to Congress. It’s good to give people the benefit of the doubt. Even idiots deserve a little slack. But there’s one mob I’ll never do that for – the 8 October people. These are the people who marched against Israel before the blood of Hamas’s pogrom was even dry. The people who were on the streets calling the Jewish state a Nazi regime before it had even counted its dead. Unbelievably, one of these 8 October lowlifes now looks set to get a seat in the US Congress. Her name is Darializa Avila Chevalier. She’s a member of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA). This week, she caused a big upset in the Big Apple by defeating the five-term Democratic congressman for NYC’s 13th Congressional District – Adriano Espaillat – in the Democratic primaries. Given this district is deeply Dem territory, covering Upper Manhattan and parts of the Bronx, she’s all but a shoo-in to win in the general election in November. She’ll be off to Washington. Not bad for someone who just two-and-a-half years ago was mingling with scum who displayed swastikas and burned the Israeli flag to taunt the Jewish State in its darkest hour. On 8 October 2023, Ms Chevalier, a goggle-eyed Israelophobe, joined a mob in Times Square who were screaming blue murder about the Jewish nation. As the Jews of southern Israel were still succumbing to the wounds inflicted on them by the Islamofascists of Hamas, as Israeli women were still reeling from Hamas’s sexual atrocities, these Ivy League pricks were all but celebrating. ‘Fuck Israel’, they said, as broken Israelis were being wheeled into morgues following the worst act of anti-Jewish violence since the Holocaust. Like all the 8 October gatherings that shook…
